Team Catapult presents Boots & Black Ties, our 2023 fundraising gala!

This ‘Texas Formal’ evening, hosted at the gorgeous The Bell Tower on 34th, is the opportunity to shine your best boots and enjoy a night of celebration and connection. Prof. Lex Frieden is our keynote speaker, with talented KRPC Channel 2 anchor Derrick Shore returning as emcee and live entertainment by the Spazmatics.

Keynote Speaker

Prof. Lex Frieden

Catapult is honored to present Prof. Lex Frieden as this year’s keynote speaker. From 1984 to 1988, Mr. Frieden served as Executive Director of the National Council on the Handicapped (now the National Council on Disability). In this capacity, he was instrumental in conceiving and drafting the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Lex Frieden is Professor of Biomedical Informatics and Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and he is Adjunct Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine.

Derrick Shore

Three-time Emmy winner, dog lover, uncle, electric car driver, cookie eater. Derrick joins this year’s gala as our master of ceremony. We are thrilled to welcome him back for another year, representing Team Catapult and KPRC Channel 2 - Houston.
